A couple days ago, I went to Surabaya. And there was something interesting in my way back home.
Well, actually this thought isn’t something new, I often think about it, but this occasion makes me think more! Back to the story, I was on the bus, and I sat right behind the driver, that means I sat in the front seat..with an old man with stinky breath (sorry!)

But no, this story isn’t about the odor of his mouth, it would be rude. I’m gonna tell you about his stinky opinion about Political and Social Science faculty where I study now

First the old man just asked me a few simple questions, where I study, where I live, how old I am, the bus fare… Then he started to tell me about her daughter, who went into college and took Pharmacy as a major. He seemed to have a very big proud of her daughter. He said that he’s happy because he’s so sure that her daughter is gonna be a rich person. He said that being pharmacist, doctors and other similar jobs would bring a great wealth. The point is, he thought that those professions were the best professions. I just nodded my head, I didn’t deny that those jobs are good jobs.

But then, the-stinky-breathed-old-man started to make me upset, by comparing my faculty and her daughters’. He started to insult me -indirectly- that my faculty wasnt good enough, it wouldn’t be a good future for me, he said. He questioned me what I actually want to get in that faculty, and he stressed that since I was a girl, I am not supposed to learn politics. Politics, by the way, wont give me any good, he said. And what made me arguing him was, because he said, that I’m not gonna be rich anyway by studying politics, and though I’m rich in eventual, it wouldn’t be last for long

What the hack was that? Why did he judge a profession based on the wealth that we will get??

So I can conclude that according to that old mans’ opinion, politicians would end up with being a pathetic people..

While he said that, a man -a street musician- was singing in front of me about how bad politicians are, about politicians who are naturally always being rats, and their main job was to steal public’s money, and corrupt is a custom for them. Wasn’t it perfect??

So then I realize, I carry a huge amount of burden, by being a student with politic as a major. I realize that there are a lot of scepticism and bad image of politics, and my job is to clear ‘em out. And it’s not an easy job, I know. Every job in this world has its own risk and reputation. How bad the reputation is, someone has to take care of that field, someone has to do the right thing — the best thing — at the right time, and that someone has to be me. No matter what those people say about my job and what I study. All I need to do is giving the best of me because my future is in my own hand, not in theirs.
